What if you could combine the best in vintage vibe with modern tech for the perfect everyday watch? Well, now you can.
Japanese independent Kurono is the brainchild of watchmaker Hajime Asaoka. Under the mandate of bringing Asaoka’s design sensibility to the masses using assembly line manufacturing — rather than the handmade haute horlogerie pieces for which he is primarily known — the company is able to offer beautiful watches for several thousand dollars, rather than tens of thousands.
The Kurono Anniversary is a special edition made to celebrate the brand's one year anniversary in 2020. With a dial executed with a stunning fume style green finish, this texture and multidimensional depth is unrivaled at the pricepoint. Housed in a 37mm stainless steel case, this particular Anniversary watch features applied quadrant indices with a matching syringe handset, an unsigned crown, a sapphire crystal and a workhorse Miyota 90S5 automatic movement ticking within. Only 288 pieces were made in total!
One thing’s for sure: Few contemporary watches feature this kind of flair for this kind of money!
Brand Story

Brand Story
+Kurono Tokyo offers beautiful, vintage-inspired watches in highly wearable sizes for a few thousand dollars, rather than tens of thousands. Often available in striking colorways, they feature faces made by one of Japan’s finest dial markers, stainless steel cases and solid case backs, and robust Miyota movements.
Unabashedly Japanese in their attention to detail and craftsmanship but borrowing from midcentury European watchmaking design language, Kurono Tokyo timepieces are a cut above the average “microbrand” watch, yet still wildly affordable compared to the wares from many high-end independents.
