–From pressing a chronograph pusher to watching the smooth sweep of a seconds hand, there’s something to be said about watching a mechanical object put into motion.
A model car evokes a very similar feeling. It beckons you to glide it across a table, to open its doors to get a closer look at its detailed interior and to pop the hood revealing a carbon copy engine. What’s more, there’s an element of playfulness between the two — a reminder not to take ourselves too seriously. Whether it’s watches, model cars or anything vintage, it’s the tactile experience that keeps us in the moment, and it’s what we love about all analog things.
This friction-drive toy takes its cues from Vanwall Formula I racing cars of the 1960s. This model car features all the design cues distinct to the British-manufactured racing cars of that era and measures approximately 4 1/2" x 2" x 1 1/2", making this pocket-sized toy the perfect stocking-stuffer!
Headquartered here in New York City and Marx (1919-1980) produced some of the coolest automotive toys a child could ever wish for, and this small and mighty friction racer is sure to put a smile on the face of the motorsports enthusiast in your life this holiday season - regardless of their age!
