We’ll make an exception for anything from Breguet, whose timepieces embody the exquisite workmanship of its 18th/19th-century namesake. And like the watches of Breguet, those of Urban Jurgensen have their origins in the same time period, thus exhibiting similar characteristics such as guilloché, blued steel hands, and Roman numerals.

This particular Urban Jurgensen dress watch is a very special timepiece indeed, with a patented chronometer escapement. Housed in a 40mm 18K rose gold case with teardrop lugs, a sapphire crystal, a rose gold crown, and a polished, stepped bezel, it features a beautiful, satin silver guilloché dial with painted black ‘Roman’ indices, a blued steel ‘observatory’ handset, an outer ‘railroad’ minute track, and a power reserve indicator below 12 o’clock.

Powered by the highly finished, manually wound Urban Jurgensen Calibre P8 with detent escapement, it comes paired to a signed, brown alligator leather strap with a signed, 18K rose gold pin buckle. Dating to 2022, it also includes its factory goodies.

Dane Urban Bruun Jürgensen, born in Copenhagen in the late 18th century to a royal watchmaker, studied watchmaking in Switzerland, Paris, and London before returning home to begin his horological journey. Awarded several medals and prizes for both publications and inventions
concerning mainsprings, thermometers, and more, he later perfected the art of perforating precious stones, which he studied in Geneva.
Over a 20-year period, Jürgensen constructed roughly 20 chronometers. Following his death, his sons Jules-Frederik Jürgensen and Louis Urban Jürgensen continued his work, based in Switzerland and Copenhagen, respectively. Jules Jürgensen, the former’s eponymous brand, became a well known marque in its own right, constructing handsome dress watches and operating until the 1970s.
In 2021, the Urban Jürgensen company was purchased by Finnish watchmaker Kari Voutilainen and a group of investors, who plan to relaunch the notable marque in 2023 in time for the 250th anniversary of Jürgensen’s birth. Given Voutilainen’s pedigree, one can expect extremely high-end pieces from one of the horological world’s foremost minds.

Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
