Why We Love it

Mechanical alarms are just about the coolest wristwatch complication we can think of.  In addition to displaying the time, the mechanical movement features a secondary manually-wound spring which, when wound and released operates a audible buzzer, alerting the wearer at a pre-set time.  This buzzer not only makes noise, but physically vibrates the watch, noticeable both on the wrist or when placed on a hard surface - making the watch usable as an alarm clock as well!

While most collectors are likely to think of Vulcain, Jaeger-LeCoultre, or Seiko when thinking of alarm watches, Tudor also manufactured a line in the late 1950s known as Advisors, which were in production through the 1970s.  The example which we have presented here is one of the earliest models, reference 7926.  This early reference features the manually-wound calibre 1475, and is housed in a 34mm Oyster Case with a twin-crown layout.  The dial is in stunning original condition, featuring dart shaped hour markers, luminous plots, and dauphine hands for the hour and minute.  The alarm indicator is a red arrow-shaped hand and is operated by the crown at 2:00.

Alarm watches have seen a recent surge in popularity, and a number of brands (Tudor included!) have begun reissuing classic designs from their archives.  Given the interest in both mechanical alarms and in the Tudor brand, Advisors are an extreme rarity on the market, and offer a great value for collectors!  This particular example is in terrific all-original condition and operates brilliantly.  When activated, the alarm function buzzes crisply and loudly, and is sure to get the attention of those around you.  Overall, this is a totally killer piece with classic Oyster looks, a beautiful dial, and a usable complication that renders your cell phone alarm totally unnecessary!
