Why We Love it
–Some watches tell more than the time. They tell someone's story.
This elegant Tiffany & Co. dress watch is a beautiful example of the understated sophistication that defined the finest mid-century wristwatches. Crafted in 14k yellow gold, its slim 33mm case, minimalist silver sunburst dial, and delicate applied baton markers reflect an era when proportion and restraint mattered far more than excess. The result is timeless in the truest sense—a watch that feels as refined today as it did more than sixty years ago.
Signed simply "Tiffany & Co." on the dial, the watch recalls a period when the legendary New York jeweler commissioned exceptional Swiss watchmakers (in this case, Universal Genève) to produce timepieces under its own name. The aesthetic is unmistakably Calatrava-inspired: clean, balanced, and elegantly spare, with slender hands gliding across an uncluttered dial powered by a manually wound movement within.
Yet what truly distinguishes this example isn't found on the dial at all.
Turn the watch over, and its history comes to life through a heartfelt engraving: "To Clinton, With All Our Love, Nana & Pops, April 1960." It transforms the watch from a beautiful vintage object into something far more personal. A gift given to mark an important milestone, preserved across generations, and now ready to begin another chapter. Unlike many period engravings that merely record initials or dates, this inscription speaks with warmth and affection, offering a rare glimpse into the life the watch once lived.
This Tiffany & Co. dress watch embodies everything collectors love about mid-century design: elegant proportions, precious materials, quiet confidence, and Tiffany gravitas. The engraving only deepens its appeal, reminding us that the finest vintage watches are not mere timekeepers. They are keepsakes that carry it with them.
Brand Story

Brand Story
+What sets Tiffany apart is its talent for balancing timelessness with the spirit of the moment. Its designers—Louis Comfort Tiffany, Jean Schlumberger, Elsa Peretti, Paloma Picasso—each brought a distinct, almost artistic point of view to the house, reshaping jewelry design in ways that resonated far beyond the vitrines. Their work made Tiffany synonymous with individuality, creativity, and a kind of effortless sophistication that feels as relevant today as it did decades ago.
Tiffany’s engagement with horology only strengthened this identity. Throughout the 20th century, the brand collaborated with Swiss manufacturers to create elegant watches that borrowed the clarity and proportion of its jewelry. These private-label timepieces, often produced with Universal Genève or Patek Philippe, mirrored Tiffany’s aesthetic code: clean lines, impeccable finishing, and a sense of New York refinement measured in minutes and hours.
Today, Tiffany & Co. remains an icon because it never strays from its core philosophy. Whether expressed through a diamond solitaire, a bone cuff, or a slim gold Tank-style watch, the brand continues to embody the promise of elevated everyday beauty—pieces that feel personal, modern, and enduring all at once.
