Why We Love it

Why We Love It

As with any vintage Seiko, it is increasingly difficult to find an honest example with genuine parts. What we have here is a truly special as you can see.

The Seiko Rallye Diver is a colorful and desirable sports diving watch from the 1970s. The watch sits in a robust 42mm solid stainless steel case with thick protective lugs and a recessed crown. The standout feature on this watch is without the question the blue coloration, including the blue checkered bezel and stunning deep royal blue dial. The watch even features a (likely original) bezel pip which has patinated nicely to match the luminous elements on the dial and handset.

If you're a fan of Seiko - or just colorful tool watches from this great era of diver design - you'd be hard pressed to find a more interesting timepiece at this price point or any other.

Don't miss it!

The Story

To many, Seiko is just another inexpensive watch brand - but if you’ve made it to this far, you know that nothing could be further from the truth.

Our love for Seiko divers should be pretty apparent.

For over 135 years, Seiko has been cranking out innovative and impeccably engineered watches at every price point, from entry level Seiko 5s to world-class high horology Grand Seikos. Underpinning Seiko's efforts has been the mass production of reliable and accurate movements capable of being paired with a wide array of case and dial configurations.

Seiko, the piece we always go to when we go out into the field. Whether we're wearing it while hoofing it up a mountain, trudging through the wetlands in search of winged dinner, fishing for brownies or bonefish, or just getting it sandy at the beach, this piece serves a very important role as a timepiece that can take a beating while also giving us watch snobs something to wear that we can be truly proud of.

If one thing is for sure, those Japanese watchmakers perfected incredibly well-made tool watches decades ago- and at prices that make the most diehard Swiss watch fans cry out in jealousy.
