Why We Love it
–There is a question that gnaws at the mind of every watch enthusiast and collector: How do I find the perfect watch?
In our world, reduced to the smallest of margins of error, a millimeter here or there can make the difference between a truly delightful timepiece and one that just doesn't work. We firmly believe that there is a watch for every wrist, an exceptional timepiece that combines the right aesthetics with the right feel. But the search for that perfect watch is a lot easier than most people might believe, and we have Rolex to thank for it.
Where so many watches can be a little too big here, or a little to small there, the Rolex Datejust is just right, embracing the wrist with its thin and tapering 36mm case. And while recent horological trends have favored large wristwatches, the age of the giant watch is behind us (thankfully), making more reasonably sized watches, like the original Datejust, a pleasingly stylish option that fits the bill. The real kicker is that the Datejust, released by Rolex in 1945, has been one of the most significant gems in the brand's crown for 70 years, pulling serious weight right alongside the Submariner as one of timekeeping's most recognizable, not to mention praised, timepieces.
There's a magic to the Datejust's simple design, a timelessness that speaks to how true style never dies.
This particular execution, dating to circa 1973, is truly beautiful, featuring a rare, perfectly patinated linen dial that rests luxuriously in the professionally restored case. Wearable in absolutely any scenario, this Datejust drips with class and marks the wearer as an individual of taste and class.
Maybe that individual is you....
