–1963 Was A Good Year
When the dust sheet was pulled back on a brand-new Porsche model during the 1963 Frankfurt International Motor Show, few could have predicted the significant impact it would have on the motoring world for decades to come. Its name was the 901. Today it's better known as the legendary 911.
The first ever Porsche 911 was designed by F.A. Porsche — son of the founder of the company, Ferry Porsche — and his team. The original 911 had an air-cooled flat-six engine instead of the four-cylinder boxer engine of the 356. The 911 displayed in this ad is adorned in Irish Green — a favorite over here at Analog:Shift HQ.
This ad, curated by our friends at Ad Patina, dates back to 2008 and pays homage to the legacy of 911. The lighting captures every bend and curve of the body lines and the heavy dose of vignette pulls you right in. Below a simple text in black reads, “In 1963, the 911 showed the world how a sports car should perform.” — in fact, it did.
This ad is custom framed in a 12 1/2" x 15" solid wood frame with a cherry painted finish. It features a custom-measured, hand-cut 4-ply border in a shade of white, complimenting all the ad tones. Every material used is acid-free and the glass is anti-reflective and offers UV-protection to keep this precious ad preserved no matter where you decide to hang it up. Speaking of which, hanging your newly purchased ad is a seamless task, as this particular frame comes with an additional hanging wire and felt pads for wall protection.
Since its introduction in 1963, the Porsche 911 has aged like fine wine — just like this piece of art will.
