Why We Love it

Piaget in the 1980s was on a tear, quietly rewriting the rules of elegance while the rest of the world was busy turning up the volume.

Gorgeous precious-metal bracelets; incredible stone dials; groundbreaking case shapes — all were on offer during this most fruitful period. This Ref. 4087D might be considered a more subdued vintage offering — if not for the spectacular 'falcon's eye' dial set within its white gold case, that is.

Tank-like in proportions with a 20mm diameter and and smooth brancards, it features a small unsigned crown, an acrylic crystal, and the aforementioned speckled black dial derived from a stone in the quartz family. Fitted with a set of white gold 'dauphine' hands and signed with the Piaget wordmark, it's powered by a hand-wound movement.

Paired to a cool and unusual leather strap with alternating white gold links that mimic the shape of the watch's case, it's finished with a white gold pin buckle. Versatile and beautiful, it's perfect for both men's and ladies' wrists and ideal for someone who values smaller, more subtle pieces with a bit of "je ne sais quoi."

Brand Story

+
Piaget is perhaps the foremost player in ultra-thin watches and watch movements in the world. Established in 1874 in Geneva and currently under the Richemont Group umbrella, the maison began producing wristwatch movements in 1911, manufacturing the Calibre 9P, its first ultra-thin, hand-wound mechanical movement, in 1957.

In 1960, Piaget released the Calibre 12P, the thinnest automatic movement in the world at the time, at just 2.3mm. It fitted many of its miniature movements into innovative timepieces hidden in coins, brooches, and cufflinks, becoming known equally for its jewelry.

The Piaget Altiplano Ultimate, released as a concept in 2018, became a full production model in 2020. At just 2mm thick, it took the record for thinnest watch on Earth. Today, Piaget continues to innovate in the realm of ultra-thin watchmaking, creating ultra-thin tourbillons, retrograde movements, and more.
