Why We Love it
–Patek Philippe. World time.
A union that immediately inspires awe.
Every brand has its specialties, and the world time is undoubtedly one of Patek’s. Displaying 24 time zones on a rotating wheel at the periphery of the dial, the local time is changed simply by pressing a pusher. In conjunction with the 24 hour internal ring, you can effectively gauge the time in every location in the world.
This particular world time, Reference 5110J, is one of the most beautiful and also one of the most accessible. Launched in 2000, the 5110 was the first world time released since the Reference 2523. Fashioned from yellow gold with a flowing mid case that forms elegant crown guards, the 5110 measures 37mm in diameter, and set the blueprint for Patek’s modern world time case styles. The center of the dial has a beautiful intricate guilloché pattern that makes the watch shine brilliantly in low and high light environments.
Patek prominence continues straight through the caseback, which features an automatic winding micro-rotor Calibre 240. The Calibre 240 is one of Patek’s most legendary, finding itself in many of Patek’s most notable references, including the 3940 in the form of the 240Q.
Set on a burgundy strap and completed with a 18K yellow gold deployant clasp, this piece pops on the wrist. This stunner also has all the luxuries of a modern Patek, such as a sapphire crystal and exhibition caseback.
As world times from Patek continue to build in popularity, so does the case for this piece!
