Why We Love it
–Patek Philippe may be celebrated for perpetual calendars, minute repeaters, and some of the most complicated watches ever made, but the manufacture has always understood that simplicity can be every bit as compelling. Its dress watches, for both men and women, have long made that case beautifully.
Introduced in 1999, the Twenty~4 was conceived specifically for women and quickly became an important pillar of the Patek Philippe collection. The original Twenty~4 established its identity with a distinctive rectangular case and integrated bracelet, while the collection has since expanded to include the round-cased automatic Twenty~4 introduced in 2018. The result is a line that feels unmistakably Patek while occupying a somewhat more relaxed, everyday corner of its universe.
This Twenty~4 Automatic Ref. 7300-1200R-010 is a particularly elegant example from the current collection. Its 36mm case is fashioned from 18K rose gold, with the bezel set with 160 diamonds totaling approximately 0.77 carats. The silvery dial features a wonderfully subtle vertical-and-horizontal satin finish that creates an almost linen-like texture, punctuated by applied rose-gold Arabic numerals and hands filled with luminous material. A discreet date aperture sits at 6 o’clock.
Inside is Patek Philippe’s self-winding Calibre 26-330 S C, visible through the sapphire caseback and offering central seconds, a date indication, and approximately 45 hours of power reserve.
Perhaps most importantly, this is a watch designed around its bracelet rather than simply attached to one. The matching 18K rose gold bracelet gives the Twenty~4 its distinctive jewelry-like presence on the wrist, balancing the diamond-set bezel with something decidedly more streamlined and contemporary.
Accompanied by its factory goodies and papers, this Twenty~4 is a compelling expression of modern Patek Philippe: beautifully finished, mechanically serious, and glamorous without sacrificing its usefulness as an everyday watch.
