Why We Love it

Why We Love it
–Patek Philippe did, in fact, make another great stainless steel sports watch — and no, we’re not talking about the Nautilus or the Aquanaut. The Neptune, introduced in 1996 alongside the Aquanaut, was conceived as a fresh injection of sportiness into Patek’s collection. While its siblings became icons, the Neptune quietly cultivated a cult following. And today, it reads like the inside-track choice: elegant, idiosyncratic, and wonderfully under-appreciated.
The Reference 4883/1G seen here showcases everything that makes the Neptune compelling. The 27mm white gold case wears slim and confident, with subtle crown guards and a beautifully crisp sapphire crystal. But the crown guards are about the only subtle aspect of this piece. The rest of the watch is decked out in beautifully cut diamonds. Multiple sizes and cuts litter the dial, bezel, crown guards, and first few links of this white gold beauty. Outbound, the dial flaunts a mother of pearl inlay that ties it all together in a classy fashion.
It’s sporty and flashy, but with manners.
Inside a quartz movement keeps this piece running in time. Completing the look is the Neptune’s signature integrated bracelet — a multi-link, articulated design instantly recognizable to those who know.
A little unconventional, deeply refined, and sitting at the crossroads of neo-vintage charm and contemporary wearability, the Neptune is the move for collectors who prefer refinement over recognition.
