Why We Love it

Patek Philippe.

Few luxury brands in the world carry the gravitas of their name, and for good reason.  The firm's commitment to excellence in horological manufacture is unflinching, and their track record of innovation in design without peer.  They continue to lead the industry, and even their fiercest competitors have nothing but the utmost respect for the company.

Vintage Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only vintage timepieces they collect.  Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative nature of their movements, and that finding these characteristics on a vintage piece that also tells a story is some next level shit.

We don't often carry Patek Philippe in our inventory, nor do we ever expect to have a selection like some of our esteemed peers.  We do often assist our clients in obtaining them for their private collections, but this is a rare exception we couldn't possibly pass on - the chance to publicly offer the original badass of steel luxury timepieces: The Reference 3700 Nautilus "Jumbo."

Considered by many to be the ultimate expression of '70s design by legendary designer Gerald Genta, the Nautilus, along with the other Genta-penned masterpieces of the era (Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, IWC Ingenieur SL), revolutionized the timepiece industry by introducing stainless steel cases at luxury price points - an unlikely combination of features that took the market by storm. Originally introduced in 1976, the Nautilus turns 40 next year, and there is no question that values on early examples will swell, just as they did with the Royal Oak Jumbo over the past several years.

This particular first series 3700/001 was originally retailed in 1981. It features the equally legendary ultra-thin Calibre 28-255C automatic winding movement developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre and is in tremendous condition, with an incredibly crisp case, original thin integrated bracelet in supremely tight condition, and classic blue textured dial. Coming complete with its original Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin and a later Zebra wood presentation box, this piece will make for one hell of an addition to any serious collection!
