Why We Love it

The Nautilus is without question one of the great horological icons of the 1970s, and one of the most in-demand timepiece models on the planet.

Collectors and prospectors alike are clamoring to get their hands on Genta's second great luxury sports watch, and with the recent news of the discontinuation of the flagship reference 5711 in steel, this dramatic rise in popularity shows no signs of slowing down.

But what we have here is not exactly what you might be think of when you hear 'Nautilus' mentioned... This is a Reference 3900 - what would have been the first Nautilus marketed specifically for Ladies. These pieces come in at 32mm in diameter and feature a robust and reliable quartz power plant.

This particular example, dates to circa the 1980s and features a solid 18k yellow gold case with a matching integrated bracelet, an absolutely stunning navy blue Tritium 'sigma' dial with a matching handset, and a date window at 3:00.

Suitable for a larger variety or wrists than you may think given its size, this piece presents great value as far as solid gold Nautilus models go, and even possesses an extremely interesting caseback engraving that reads "MRZ."

The Nautilus has become a true piece of horological history; an icon of icons; and must be experienced to be understood!

Brand Story

+
Patek Philippe.

Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world with an uninterrupted watchmaking history. Few luxury brands in the world carry the gravitas of their name, and for good reason. The firm's commitment to excellence in horological manufacture is unflinching, and their track record of innovation in design without peer.  They continue to lead the industry, and even their fiercest competitors have nothing but the utmost respect for the company.

Owning a Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only timepieces they collect. Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their cases and movements, or the sheer elegance and emotion that comes from owning one.

Of course for a brand that is steeped in heritage, we are told ‘You never actually own a Patek Philippe…”

Well, you know the rest.
