Not every timepiece from the world’s greatest watchmaker fits neatly into the mold of an overarching theme or collection.

While we love a simple Calatrava, a sporty Aquanaut, or a complicated perpetual calendar as much as the next guy, the oddball, more overlooked and usually limited-production, shaped watches made by the maison in the second half of the 20th century are often some of the most innovative and charming in Patek Philippe's oeuvre.

Take this fantastic piece for example. A member of the broader Calatrava collection, this is not your typical Calatrava by any means. A Reference 3579, this is part of the coveted stainless steel history of Patek watches. Rare and few and far between, the stainless steel Pateks have a mystery to them that has kept collectors coming back for more year after year. 

This reference was made from 1969-1974 with just an estimated 150-200 examples made total. 

This 3579 features a brilliant cushion-style UFO case, a silver sunburst dial with clean stick applique indexes, and a vaulted and snailed chapter ring inbound. Simple in aesthetics but significant in its rarity and obscurity, this is the Calatrava to have for those in the know.

Owning a Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only timepieces they collect. Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their cases and movements, or the sheer elegance and emotion that comes from owning one.

Of course for a brand that is steeped in heritage, we are told “You never actually own a Patek Philippe…”

Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
