Omega Seamaster ‘Goldeneye’
When James Bond exploded back onto the silver screen in 1995’s GoldenEye, he wasn’t wearing his trusty Rolex as in the Ian Fleming-penned novels, but rather, a shiny new Omega Seamaster Professional.
Why? Eagle-eyed costume designer Lindy Hemming knew that the Seamaster had a long association with the British Royal Navy, and given the Bond character’s origins as an SAS commando, she opted for the watch over a Submariner. Bond’s been an Omega man ever since.
Ironically, the first Seamaster worn by Pierce Brosnan’s was not an automatic model like that depicted in this advert, but rather, a quartz-powered Seamaster Professional 300M reference 2541.80. (In 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies, the British spy would indeed don an automatic reference 2531.80, and he continues to wear automatic references to this day.) Regardless, this 1990s Omega ad with its vintage-inspired typeface and a killer illustrated throwback look kicked off a collector obsession with the Seamaster that has only grown stronger with each successive Bond film. (It also happens to be the first advertisement to introduce Brosnan’s Bond and to associate the franchise with Omega!)
This particular ad was sourced and presented by our friends at Ad Patina is custom framed in a 12 3/4" x 14 3/4" solid wood frame with a black painted finish. It features a custom-measured, hand-cut 4-ply border in a shade of white, complimenting all the ad tones. Every material used is acid-free and the glass is anti-reflective and offers UV-protection to keep this precious ad preserved no matter where you decide to hang it. Speaking of which, hanging your newly purchased ad is a seamless task, as this particular frame comes with an additional hanging wire and felt pads for wall protection.
This Omega Seamaster ad with Pierce Brosnan happens to be one of our favorite James Bond advertisements. The Omega Seamaster Professional 300 Professional ‘Goldeneye’ happens to be a perennial favorite neo-vintage watch, too.
Why not snag both while you can? After all, you don't have all the time in the world...
