Why We Love it
–Not all that glitters is gold. Sometimes, it's a shimmering steel timepiece from an era that makes it sounds believable when you utter: They just don't make them like that anymore.
A notable entry in the diverse Seamaster collection, these elegant timepieces were built to be worn and used, and feature design elements any fan of vintage horology is sure to appreciate. Utilizing the Bumper-Wind Automatic Calibre 355, the Seamaster Calendar features a basic three-hand design with a date function at 6:00. The simple, soft-edged case design and classic dial with 3,6,9 Arabic hour marker layout make this mid-century piece a hands-down winner.
While the Calibre 355 is often seen housed in an 18K gold case, this particular piece is a delightful (and rare) steel variant features a patinated brushed silver tone dial and applied gold markers and hands, a subtle touch of color and class that makes what could easily have been a plain Jane expression absolutely stunning.
At roughly 34mm, the classically styled case might scare off some enthusiasts, but there is no denying the smooth and understated wristfeel that is further elevated by the distinct sensation of the chipper bumper wind movement inside.
Unique and in gorgeous condition, this one shouldn't be ignored!
