Why We Love it

In 1957, Omega released a series of three sport watches that would come to define much of the brand’s modern production. At least one of them would become so significant that it would embody the Biel/Bienne-based maison in the minds of both collectors and novices alike for decades.

These three watches were, of course, the Speedmaster chronograph, the Seamaster 300 dive watch, and the Railmaster field watch. Covering a wide swatch of tool watch territory, this trio of iconic models can still be found individually within the Omega catalog. But what if you were so enamored with them that you wanted to add all three to your collection simultaneously?

That’s what the Omega Trilogy is for. Released as a limited-edition trio of 557 sets, the grouping consists of near-note-for-note recreations of the original 1957 Speedmaster, Seamaster 300, and Railmaster. Packaged in a special wooden box and shipping with multiple bracelet and strap options, this set is a veritable collector’s playground — one that’s ensured to provide years of wear-time for the Omega enthusiast.

Consisting of modern takes on the Omega. Speedmaster ref. CK2915, the Omega Speedmaster 300 ref. CK2913, and the Railmaster ref. CK2914, the set is pure midcentury tool watch heaven: Stainless steel cases, black dials, and vintage-colored lume abound, as do hand-wound or automatic movements and stainless steel bracelets. Looking like dead-ringers for watches produced at the dawn of the Space Age, you’ll be hard-pressed to find better vintage reissues on the market from any brand.

First up is the Speedmaster ‘57: Measuring 38.5mm in steel, it’s powered by the hand-wound Calibre 1861 and features a Hesalite crystal, a black dial with a triple-register chronograph layout, a ‘broad arrow’ handset, and a solid caseback. The Seamaster 300, meanwhile, measures 39mm in steel and has a rotating timing bezel, a sapphire crystal, a black dial with a ‘broad arrow’ handset, and the automatic Calibre 8806 beating away inside. Finally, the Railmaster measures 38mm in steel and features a smooth bezel, a black dial with ‘broad arrow’ handset, a sapphire crystal, and the  automatic Calibre 8806.

Accompanied by additional NATO and leather straps and as well as its factory goodies, the Omega Trilogy set delivers tremendous value for the Omega mega-fan — or, frankly, for anyone who appreciates the early history of the tool watch. Who in their right mind, after all, would turn down a three-for-one special?!
