Details

Our love for rare and beautiful objects isn't limited to those of the horological variety! In addition to our perpetual treasure hunt for great watches, we cast a wider net into the world of vintage objects, a practice that, since our founding, has yielded a trove of finds we happily share  during the holiday season each year.

From vintage clocks to pocket knives, lighters to diving instrumentation, old-world ashtrays to desk sculptures — these are the types of mementos that heavily tug on our nostalgic heart strings and further sate our impulse for preservation and storytelling.

Unfortunately we can't keep them all...

This sculpture is created in likeness to the 1954 Mercedes 300SLR. This Formula I racing car was campaigned in the World Sportscar Championship and featured a lightweight, high-strength tubular frame that supported its streamlined, aluminum 'Type Monza' body - the only closed wheel Formula I car to ever win a Grand Prix! With an open top single seat configuration and gobs of power coming from its 3.0 liter straight eight, Stirling Moss regarded it as the 'Greatest sports racing car ever built'.

This stunning tribute is cast in pewter and measures approximately 7 1/2” x 3” x 2”. It beautifully captures low slung body in a way that conveys speed, as well as its driver - perhaps the legedary Juan Manuel Fangio- in action, cranking the wheel mid apex, as if he was flinging the Silver Arrow around Reims.

These stunning pieces were produced in the UK in the 1990s and early 2000s by The Compulsion Gallery, which has sadly since gone out of business, making their fine automotive sculptures rare and highly sought-after by petrol heads the world over.

It'll make for a perfect decorative addition to the vintage motorsports enthusiast in your life - don't miss it!
