Why We Love it
–Grand Seiko is the darling of contemporary watch collectors today, and after taking even a cursory glance at their watches’ specs — or better yet, an example in the metal — it’s easy to see why.
The artisanal talent that goes into the design and manufacturing process of GS dials alone is stupefying. Depending on the angle, the color and composition of a textured dial will look completely different. They’re truly works of art steeped in Japanese tradition!
The particular Grand Seiko that we have here is an SBGE263 ‘Eagle.’ A special U.S.-exclusive model, it’s inspired by the eagle, America’s national bird. Housed in a 40.5mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal, a signed crown, and a brown ceramic 24-hour bezel, it features a luminous brown spiraling dial reminiscent of an eagle’s plumage - with applied indices and a matching handset, a gold GMT hand, a 24-hour rehaut, a date window at 4:30, and a power reserve indicator.
Powering this impressive piece is Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive Caliber 9R66, a ‘true’ GMT movement with an independently adjustable local hour hand. Paired to a stainless steel, multi-link bracelet with a signed, push-button deployant clasp, it’s in mint condition and comes with its factory goodies.
It’s not every day that one gets a shot at such an exclusive piece.
Don’t pass this one up!
Brand Story

Brand Story
+Other models of Grand Seiko would follow, coupling those elegant “sparkling” cases with high-grade (often hi-beat) manually-wound or automatic movements. When compared to the no-nonsense tool watches like the 6309 line of divers, the Grand Seiko was worlds away—refined, elegant, and cosmopolitan. Seiko intended the watch to be an answer to dress watches crafted by the Swiss, and at that it certainly did succeed.
Well-regarded in its home country, the Grand Seiko reached a global audience in 2010—and has captivated consumers ever since.
