Why We Love it

Why We Love it
–Some watches were built for the boardroom. Others were built for the summit. The Enicar Sherpa belongs firmly in the latter camp.
While Enicar remains one of the great underappreciated names in vintage watch collecting, the brand earned a formidable reputation throughout the 1950s and 1960s by producing rugged sports watches designed for professional use. The Sherpa line, named in honor of the Himalayan guides who assisted mountaineering expeditions, became the company's calling card. These were watches built to withstand the elements, whether on a glacier, in the cockpit, or beneath the waves.
This Sherpa Super-Dive captures everything enthusiasts love about the era. Housed in a sharply faceted tonneau-shaped stainless steel case, it combines serious tool-watch credentials with a distinctly late-1960s sense of style. The silver sunburst dial is framed by a vibrant orange and black minute track, while the matching orange seconds hand injects just the right amount of color. It's purposeful, highly legible, and undeniably cool. Even the signed stainless steel bracelet with the distinctive hexagonal "coffin" link pattern is fantastic looking. This particular Sherpa even comes with its original hang tag!
Like many of the best dive watches of its generation, the Sherpa employs a twin-crown Super Compressor-style architecture. The upper crown operates the internal rotating timing bezel, allowing divers to track elapsed underwater time while keeping the bezel safely protected beneath the crystal. The result is a cleaner, more streamlined design than many of its contemporaries, and one that has aged remarkably well.
Today, vintage Enicars occupy a sweet spot for collectors seeking something beyond the usual Rolex, Omega, and Longines offerings. The Sherpa line in particular has developed a devoted following thanks to its distinctive design language, robust construction, and rich exploration heritage.
Equal parts dive watch, adventure companion, and design object, the Sherpa Super-Dive represents the golden age of tool watches at its most colorful and charismatic. Nearly sixty years later, it remains every bit as ready for adventure as the day it left Switzerland.
Brand Story

Brand Story
+Enicar reached its peak during the 1950s and 1960s, an era when exploration captured the public imagination. The brand supplied watches to mountaineering expeditions, scientific ventures, and military organizations, developing the now-famous Sherpa collection in the process. Named in honor of the Himalayan Sherpas who supported Swiss expeditions to Everest, the line encompassed everything from dive watches and GMTs to chronographs and compressor-cased tool watches.
While Enicar never achieved the household recognition of Rolex or Omega, collectors have increasingly come to appreciate the brand's combination of technical innovation, adventurous spirit, and distinctive design. Today, vintage Enicar watches remain among the most compelling values in the market, offering a fascinating glimpse into the golden age of Swiss tool-watch manufacturing.
