Why We Love it

There’s no two ways about it — we love DOXA.

In fact, the original inspiration behind Analog:Shift was centered on these historically significant divers in a meaningful way! In any flavor, any color — from the classic orange-dialed Professional to the stunning silver-dialed Searambler —we adore 'em all.

On the heels of the SUB 300 and 300T that saw great success in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the follow-up SUB 600 series veered away from the round, cushion-case design in favor of an angular, straight-edged silhouette that was very much in vogue at the time — and remains so to this day.

Partnering up with Australian watch publication Time + Tide, DOXA revived the Sub 600T in 2021 with a limited edition model featuring a titanium case and a vibrant blue dial. Shortly after, DOXA unveiled a standard-production SUB 600T collection with two bezel variations in all of the brand’s signature colorways — ‘Professional’ orange, ‘Searambler’ silver, ‘Divingstar’ yellow, ‘Sharkhunter’ black and last but certainly not least, ‘Caribbean’ blue.

This piece, a Reference 862.10.021.10, is a beloved 'Searambler' version. features a 40mm stainless steel case with squared-off lugs, a signed crown at 4 o’clock, and a stainless steel bezel with the brand's signature no-decompression diving scale and a ‘saw-tooth’ grip. Being a ‘Searambler’, model, its dial is finished in a silver tone and features printed luminous indices, a matching 'sword' handset with an orange minute hand, and a date window at 3 o’clock. It comes fitted to a chunky, '80s-style, stainless steel multi-link bracelet with a signed locking clasp and a dive extension.

Accompanied by its complete set including boxes, traveling pouch, papers and warranty card, this 600T offers a great way to explore the off-center options of the DOXA diving watch family, and a tremendous value in both style and function!

Brand Story

+
DOXA began Research and Development for the Sub 300 in 1964, under a team helmed by Urs Eschle, the brand's head of operations, who consulted professional divers including none other than the father of SCUBA himself, Jacques-Yves Cousteau.

Since wearability was crucial, Eschle designed a large case with wide rounded lugs. For the dial, the team tested many colors (orange, yellow, turquoise, and red) in the waters of Neuchatel Lake. An unprecedented amount of tritium was also used on the hands and hour indices.

The team implemented a unidirectional bezel with an innovative insert: the U.S. Navy No Decompression chart, with the outer depth scale in orange and the minute scale in black, to allow divers to gauge how much air was in left in their tanks. Rounding out the Sub 300's innovative design was a beads-of-rice bracelet that was the first to implement an ratcheting expandable clasp capable of fitting over a diver's wetsuit without having to remove links.
