Why We Love it

In the late 1960s, DOXA developed the most important diver's watch you've never heard of.

The brand developed numerous innovations that had an impact on the design and manufacture of sport and professional diving watches to this day; such as the world's first uni-directional rotating bezel with an engraved US Navy No-Decompression dive chart, first commercially available Helium Release Valve (on the Conquistador models), and of course their signature Orange dial for maximum visibility underwater.  DOXA, in our opinion, should be ranked and regarded amongst those other iconic divers - the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and the Rolex Submariner.

Alas, the brand didn't have the staying power of the larger companies, and was lost in obscurity for decades after the quartz crisis, kept alive to a dedicated legion of enthusiasts only through the writings of adventure writer Clive Cussler, whose fictional hero wore an orange dial DOXA in many of his world-saving exploits.

But in the early 2000s, to the delight of dive watch enthusiasts everywhere, they came back.

What you're looking at here is a contemporary DOXA Sub 600T, in our minds the most properly vintage of the modern (post 2003) DOXA Collection. While a number of features on this model make it worthy of appreciation, what delights us most about it is its relatively thin cushion case design, very close in profile to the original 1967 models. Over the course of production, vintage DOXA Subs and their modern equivalents have bulked up significantly, but the '67 and '04 600T models retain a trimmer design, making for comfortable wear on the wrist and a better balanced timepiece.

As with its ancestors, the 600T line was offered with several different colored dial options, including the classic Orange Professional model. This particular example is configured as a Sharkhunter (black dial), and finished with a full white handset - an aesthetic choice ultimately abandoned by DOXA in favor of an orange minute hand on later models.  Sharkhunters featuring these hands are commonly known as "Whitesharks" by collectors, and in our eyes are the best of the bunch, once again properly evoking the original models from the 1960s.

As die-hard enthusiasts of the originals, we have nothing but love for the 600T Whiteshark - without question our favorite of the contemporary line. It has all the elements of proper vintage dive watch design coupled with a robust build quality that screams to be used as designed. In other words, this is a vintage diver you can actually beat the shit out of as intended.

So get to it.
