Why We Love it

There’s something positively sumptuous about an all-gold watch — even more so when it comes paired to an all-gold bracelet.

Such pieces were all the rage in the 1970s and 1980s, when solid gold permeated the zeitgeist and made its way even into the world of sports watches. While a solid-gold diver's watch does indeed require a certain personality to pull off, solid-gold dress watches — much like New York — are always a good idea.

Take this exquisite piece from Piaget, specialists in ultra-thin watchmaking: seamlessly machined such that there’s no perceivable break from watch head to bracelet, it’s as much akin to a piece of jewelry as it is to a more traditional wristwatch.

Housed in a 30mm 18K yellow gold case with a sapphire cabochon winding crown and a striking integrated woven bracelet, it features a crisp white dial with printed ‘Roman’ indices and a matching feuille handset. Powered by a thin, hand-wound movement, its matching bracelet is equipped with a signed, barely perceptible clasp for a perfect, comfortable fit.

We don’t get many pieces like this coming across our desks — timepieces whose aesthetics and engineering are an equal match. Absolutely wonderful!

*Due to the design of this bracelet, sizing alterations may require custom work. Lead time after measurements are established is 4-6 weeks.*

Brand Story

+
Piaget is perhaps the foremost player in ultra-thin watches and watch movements in the world. Established in 1874 in Geneva and currently under the Richemont Group umbrella, the maison began producing wristwatch movements in 1911, manufacturing the Calibre 9P, its first ultra-thin, hand-wound mechanical movement, in 1957.

In 1960, Piaget released the Calibre 12P, the thinnest automatic movement in the world at the time, at just 2.3mm. It fitted many of its miniature movements into innovative timepieces hidden in coins, brooches, and cufflinks, becoming known equally for its jewelry.

The Piaget Altiplano Ultimate, released as a concept in 2018, became a full production model in 2020. At just 2mm thick, it took the record for thinnest watch on Earth. Today, Piaget continues to innovate in the realm of ultra-thin watchmaking, creating ultra-thin tourbillons, retrograde movements, and more.
