This particular example, dating to the 1990s, is crafted entirely in 18K yellow gold and measures a refined 26mm across. Its gently rounded case flows seamlessly into a matching multi-link bracelet with a concealed clasp, creating a fluid silhouette that wears as comfortably as it looks elegant. A polished bezel punctuated by eight signature screws lends just enough visual texture without distracting from the watch's graceful proportions.

The dial is quintessential Cartier. An ivory-white backdrop is framed by a classic chemin-de-fer minute track and bold black 'Roman' numerals, while blued steel 'sword' hands sweep elegantly across the surface. Few maisons have shaped the history of the wristwatch as profoundly as Cartier. While celebrated first and foremost as one of the world's great jewelers, Cartier has spent more than a century creating some of the most enduring watch designs ever produced.

That legacy began in 1904, when Louis Cartier designed a wristwatch for his friend, the pioneering aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. At a time when pocket watches still dominated, the Santos offered a practical solution for telling time in flight and is widely regarded as one of the first purpose-built men's wristwatches. It established a design language that Cartier continues to build upon today.

Just over a decade later came the watch that would define the maison. Introduced in 1917, the Tank drew inspiration from the Renault FT tank's silhouette, with its parallel brancards echoing the vehicle's treads. Initially produced in only a handful of examples, the Tank quickly evolved into one of the most influential wristwatches ever created. Its clean geometry, balanced proportions, and unmistakable profile have remained remarkably unchanged for more than a century.

Over the decades, Cartier expanded the collection into a family of icons. The elegant Tank Louis refined the original design in 1922, while the Tank Chinoise interpreted it through the lens of Art Deco fascination with East Asian architecture. Later models, including the Cintrée, Américaine, and Française, each brought their own personality while remaining unmistakably Tank.

The watch's appeal has always extended well beyond the world of horology. From Rudolph Valentino and Clark Gable to Andy Warhol and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the Tank has adorned the wrists of artists, actors, royalty, and tastemakers for generations.

Yet Cartier's influence reaches far beyond a single collection. Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
