Why We Love it

The Nautilus is without question one of the great horological icons of the 1970s, and one of the most in-demand models in today's watch-collecting landscape. Indeed, without Gérald Genta’s inspired design, timepiece collecting today would look very different.

Collectors and prospectors alike have been clamoring to get their hands on Genta's second great luxury sports watch, and since the discontinuation of the flagship Reference 5711 in steel, the dramatic rise in popularity shows no signs of slowing down.

This particular Nautilus, a Reference 5711G-001, isn’t made out of steel, but out of 18k white gold paired with a silvered dial —  a handsome combination that is both subtle and striking. Featuring the classic Nautilus case construction with a blend of satin and polished finishing, its dial boasts the beloved Nautilus “teak” dial, applied and lumed ‘baton’ indices, a matching, luminous ‘baton’ handset, and a date window at 3 o’clock. Paired to its matching, integrated bracelet, it also features a signed, black alligator strap with a signed, white gold, twin-trigger deployant clasp.

Powered by the automatic Calibre 324 SC movement, this is a highly refined package that perfectly balances sports watch capability and dress watch grace. Plus, it comes with its factory goodies, including its box and Certificate of Origin.

Who could ask for more from such a classic model?

Brand Story

+
Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world with an uninterrupted watchmaking history. Few luxury brands in the world carry the gravitas of their name, and for good reason. The firm's commitment to excellence in horological manufacture is unflinching, and their track record of innovation in design without peer.  They continue to lead the industry, and even their fiercest competitors have nothing but the utmost respect for the company.

Owning a Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only timepieces they collect. Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their cases and movements, or the sheer elegance and emotion that comes from owning one.

Of course for a brand that is steeped in heritage, we are told ‘You never actually own a Patek Philippe…”

Well, you know the rest.
