For those of you in the last category, we are pleased to offer this Reference 16808 Submariner, fitted with a blue sunburst 'nipple' dial - with a truly magnificent patina that is positively mesmerizing!

Dating from 1980, this beautiful solid 18k yellow gold Sub is a transitional model of sorts; housing a hi-beat movement with quickset date function and sapphire crystal, alongside traditional Tritium luminous hands and indices. Many consider this generation to be the ultimate blend of vintage looks and modern wearability. Paired with a blue bezel insert and blue suede strap, this is a take no-prisoners timepiece.

But that patina!

These early transitional blued-dialed Submariners often exhibit peeling and fading, but this example is truly next-level. With an almost mother of pearl effect showing hues of gold, green, and pink, this is without question one of the most visually engaging patinas we've ever encountered - and on a minty 18k Submariner no less!

Maybe you think gold Rolex sports watches are gaudy, gauche, or a slap in the face of sporting tradition. Perhaps you feel that for the money, you could buy a nice steel model and a nice dinner out...in Paris.  And that would be entirely understandable.

Of course, if you want to avoid any possible negative stereotyping, going with a vintage model will certainly alleviate the concern!

The Rolex Submariner is without question the brand's most iconic model, and is a perennial favorite among collectors, enthusiasts, fashionistas, and yes - actual divers. And while you aren't likely to see a Submariner clad in a yellow gold case gracing the outside of a dry suit, it's hard to argue that models such as this 16808 aren't every bit as awesome as their steel siblings - or perhaps even more so.

Casing a Submariner in 18K gold is almost a tacit acknowledgement that very few of Rolexes sporting models ever get used as originally intended - and that in its own right is a pleasing sentiment. Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
