Why We Love it
–We at analog/shift believe in exploration. We believe in action.
When we see pieces like this sweet manual-wind steel diver's watch, we are reminded that there was a time, not so long ago, when men were measured by their deeds and remembered for their daring. With their simple and clean designs and their reliable and robust movements, the tool watches of the 1960s and 1970s were built to accompany the adventurer across the globe and to keep time at its great heights as well as its dark depths.
Andre Pailet is a brand we've honestly never encountered before, and may never again, but that doesn't diminish our appreciation for this killer timepiece. Using a simple steel contract case design we've seen time and again from many of our favorite brands, this piece features a lovely gloss black dial with fancy script, Explorer-style Arabic hour markers at 6,9, and 12, and a killer red-numeral date wheel at 3. Internally, the watch utilizes a robust ETA 2472 automatic winding movement, confirming its provenance as one of the innumerable contract-built and who-knows-how branded divers from the golden era of sports watches.
All in all, this is a simple, rugged tool watch with great looks to boot.
