Details

Sure, Analog:Shift is a business built around the love of watches — mostly mechanical watches. But, in essence, it’s our love for timepieces and timekeeping in general that are the common themes throughout the items we procure. And that includes the love of clocks in general: pocket watches, travel clocks, and more.

After all, in the couple hundred years before the First World War, personal timekeeping was all about the pocket watch, and before that, it was larger clocks that were front and center, horologically. We still believe a good clock — such as a classic travel model from the 1920s or 1930s — has a place in the watch lover’s collection.

This particular Swiss-madetimepiece exists at the confluence of two horological worlds — that of the desk clock, and that of the thoroughly modern wristwatch. (Or, at least "modern" in the late-1960s sense of the term!) Taking the shape of a brass street clock measuring approximately 46 mm x 76 mm  x 17 mm with an ornate pedestal and a decorative cupola atop the clock housing, it features an oversized 29mm version of Bulova's Accutron, the electronic wristwatch that debuted in 1960 and achieved  U.S. Railroad certification due to its accuracy of +/- 2 seconds per day.

With its transparent dial giving a view into the electronic workings within the movement, this supremely cool clock was distinctly ahead of its time. Controlled and set via a crown on its back, it's an ideal desk companion for the knowledgable watch collector.
