MB&F (“Max Busser and Friends”) is, bar none, one of the most creative outfits in the contemporary boutique watchmaking space.

Founded by industry veteran Max Busser, the brand is built upon collaborations with leading horological minds and companies such as Massena LAB, L’Épée, and more. Their timepieces — and we specify ‘timepieces,’ as MB&F makes much more than just wristwatches — are some of the most innovative, daring, unique products in modern horology for their use of alternative time-telling systems, unique materials, and interesting complications. 

In 2021, MB&F released the M.A.D. 1, a special project built in honor of MB&F suppliers and owners. Following the incredibly strong response to this all-but-impossible-to-acquire timepiece, the brand decided to release a commercially available “budget” version, dubbing it the M.A.D. 1 Red. 

Housed within a 42mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal and a signed crown situated at 12 o’clock, the M.A.D. 1 Red looks like a ‘bullhead’ watch on steroids…from the future! Featuring a brushed, red outer dial plate, a luminous, triple-axle rotor, and luminous, black and red vertical rotating time displays on the case flanks, it’s quite simply unlike almost any other time-telling device you’ve likely come across before — especially one that can be worn on the wrist. Incredibly, it’s powered by the commonplace (and highly modified) automatic Miyota 821A movement, and comes affixed to a black leather and fabric strap with red stitching and a signed, stainless steel deployant clasp.

In mint condition and including its factory goodies and caseback sticker, this is a highly special piece from a brand whose every creation is a creative work of art. Snap this baby on and you’ll be sure to turn some heads…

Swiss watch industry veteran, businessman, and entrepreneur Maximilian Büsser founded his eponymous brand MB&F (“Maximilian Büsser & Friends”) in 2005 following accomplished stints at Harry Winston and Jaeger-LeCoultre. A horological laboratory of sorts, MB&F is unlike traditional watchmaking enterprises, bringing together innovators from across the industry to collaborate on “Horological Machines” and “Legacy Machines” — timekeeping devices and wristwatches that push the creative and engineering envelopes in completely new directions.
A relatively small and nimble company, MB&F crafts kinetic sculptures in partnership with some of the most learned minds in watchmaking, including Stephen McDonnell, Kari Voutilainen, L’Epée, and others, the results of which are breathtaking. Certain of these works are displayed in the company’s “M.A.D. Galleries” (“mechanical art devices”) around the world, allowing buyers, potential customers, and others to view the firm’s groundbreaking horological art in a nontraditional setting.
MB&F and its creations have been awarded by the ​​Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève — the “Oscars” of the watch world — in recognition of the firm’s creativity, spirit, and watchmaking accomplishment. Truly, there are few companies operating today whose wares can be considered as thought-provoking and innovative as those of Maximilian Büsser & Friends.

All of our watches include complementary insured shipping within the 50 states.

Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
