Why We Love it

There’s nothing more classic and appealing than a simple dress watch.

Though to be fair, when we say ‘simple’, we mean ‘uncomplicated’ — not unattractive! The 20th century saw a plethora of such watches hit the market. Generally available on leather straps and featuring two or three hands, these reliable wristwatches kept time during the classiest decades of the past 100 years. However, some were more innovative than others.

Take this exquisite piece from Piaget, specialists in ultra-thin watchmaking: it’s as much akin to a piece of jewelry as it is to a more traditional wristwatch.

Housed in a 24mm 18K white gold, hand-finished case with a fantastic 'woven' integrated bracelet, this Piaget features a sunburst silver dial. The case and bracelet flow directly and imperceptibly from one to the other such that it’s hard to precisely identify where one begins and the other ends. The finish on this bracelet and case is unlike anything you’re likely to see on the modern market, and represents the intersection of high jewelry and the watchmaking acumen of one of the foremost experts on ultra-thin watch manufacturing.

This piece is powered by a quartz movement. Calling back to a design-forward styling, this watch is the palate cleanser for any collection.

While these beautiful Piaget pieces from the late 20th century went underappreciated for many years, we have recently seen a deserved surge in interest for these avant-garde designs.

Catch this one before it’s gone!

Brand Story

+
Piaget is perhaps the foremost player in ultra-thin watches and watch movements in the world. Established in 1874 in Geneva and currently under the Richemont Group umbrella, the maison began producing wristwatch movements in 1911, manufacturing the Calibre 9P, its first ultra-thin, hand-wound mechanical movement, in 1957.

In 1960, Piaget released the Calibre 12P, the thinnest automatic movement in the world at the time, at just 2.3mm. It fitted many of its miniature movements into innovative timepieces hidden in coins, brooches, and cufflinks, becoming known equally for its jewelry.

The Piaget Altiplano Ultimate, released as a concept in 2018, became a full production model in 2020. At just 2mm thick, it took the record for thinnest watch on Earth. Today, Piaget continues to innovate in the realm of ultra-thin watchmaking, creating ultra-thin tourbillons, retrograde movements, and more.
