Why We Love it

In 1991, the soon-to-be graduates at the Geneva School of Engineering were presented with their final project prior to receiving their diploma: Simplify the perpetual calendar.

Although the task was easier said than done, their work led to the inception of the annual calendar complication, patented by Patek Philippe in collaboration with the bright engineering minds at the GSE. Five years later, Patek debuted the Reference 5035, a watch that used the world’s first-ever annual calendar movement and finally bridged the gap between a triple-date function and the formidable quantième perpétuel.

This piece — a handsome, travel-ready, modern iteration of the Patek Philippe Complications Annual Calendar — transports us forward to the present day. Designated Reference 5326G-001, this impressive timepiece features a 41mm white gold case with straight lugs; a polished, sloped bezel; and a signed crown.

The luminous dial features a textured, dark grey gradient with a chemin de fer minute track, 'Arabic' indices, day and month apertures below the 12 o’clock marker, a constant-seconds subsidiary dial with a moonphase display, a date indicator at 6 o'clock, a 'syringe' handset, and finally, ‘home’ and ‘local’ day/night indicators.

You read that last bit correctly — thanks to the maison’s self-winding Calibre 31-260 micro-rotor movement, this piece not only offers annual calendar functionality, but also features a local jumping hour hand and an additional skeletonized hour hand to keep track of home time — which can cleverly be tucked beneath the main hour hand when you’re not crossing timezones.

Outfitted on a signed, light brown leather strap with a signed, white gold deployant buckle, this piece is accompanied by its complete inner and outer box set, factory pushpin tools, and a dated Certificate of Origin.

This piece certainly packs the pedigree, refinement, functionality, and outstanding craftsmanship that can only be expected from the world's greatest watchmaker. You'll always be traveling in style with this Patek on your wrist!

Brand Story

+
Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world with an uninterrupted watchmaking history. Few luxury brands in the world carry the gravitas of their name, and for good reason. The firm's commitment to excellence in horological manufacture is unflinching, and their track record of innovation in design without peer.  They continue to lead the industry, and even their fiercest competitors have nothing but the utmost respect for the company.

Owning a Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only timepieces they collect. Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their cases and movements, or the sheer elegance and emotion that comes from owning one.

Of course for a brand that is steeped in heritage, we are told ‘You never actually own a Patek Philippe…”

Well, you know the rest.
