Why We Love it
–The Nautilus is without question one of the great horological icons of the 1970s, and one of the most in-demand timepiece models on the planet.
Collectors and prospectors alike are clamoring to get their hands on Genta's second great luxury sports watch, and with the recent news of the discontinuation of the flagship reference 5711 in steel, this dramatic rise in popularity shows no signs of slowing down.
This midsize Nautilus, a Reference 3800/001, embodies all of the porthole-inspired character of its larger siblings. Dating to the 1980s, it is presented in an elegant 37mm stainless steel case with matching integrated bracelet, Patek's Calibre 335 SC automatic movement, and a stunning white 'teak Sigma' dial with beautifully patinated tritium luminous indices and matching handset.
This example has just been treated to a top-flight professional case refinish and remains in unworn condition since. It also comes complete with its box set, books, Asia-market Factory Service papers from 1990 and a Certificate of Origin signed by Henri Stern.
A Patek Philippe Nautilus — in any of its variations — is a very special thing. But we'd be lying if we said we didn't have a real affinity for the Ref. 3800 midsize models - particularly one with a left-of-center dial configuration like this glossy white one!

Brand Story
+Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world with an uninterrupted watchmaking history. Few luxury brands in the world carry the gravitas of their name, and for good reason. The firm's commitment to excellence in horological manufacture is unflinching, and their track record of innovation in design without peer. They continue to lead the industry, and even their fiercest competitors have nothing but the utmost respect for the company.
Owning a Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only timepieces they collect. Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their cases and movements, or the sheer elegance and emotion that comes from owning one.
Of course for a brand that is steeped in heritage, we are told ‘You never actually own a Patek Philippe…”
Well, you know the rest.
