Brand Story

Brand Story
+Modern Ulysse Nardin is considerably more rebellious. Beginning in the late 20th century, the manufacture became known for ambitious complications and unconventional displays, culminating in the launch of the groundbreaking Freak in 2001. With no conventional dial, crown, or hands, and a movement that rotated to indicate the time, the Freak helped redefine what a mechanical watch could look like. Ulysse Nardin was also an early pioneer in the use of silicon components, technology that would eventually become widespread throughout Swiss watchmaking.
That combination of old-school chronometric expertise and experimental engineering continues to define Ulysse Nardin today. Few manufactures can credibly trace their history to 19th-century marine navigation while producing watches as unapologetically futuristic as the Freak.
