The earliest models had screw case backs, unusual for racing chronographs of the period. Then, in the late 60s, Heuer shifted to a snap-back compressor case for improved water resistance.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bezels on the Autavia are various, from \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/shop.analogshift.com\/collections\/heuer-sold\/products\/heuer-autavia-2446\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Heuer Autavia Reference 2446C \"\u003eminutes\u003c\/a\u003e (favored by Formula 1 driver Jochen Rindt), MH, \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/shop.analogshift.com\/products\/heuer-autavia-2446c-gmt\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Heuer Autavia 2446C GMT\"\u003eGMT\u003c\/a\u003e, or tachymeter, featured here. This particular example's bezel looks like it came straight out of the factory, showing virtually no signs of wear or discoloration commonly seen in this model.
