Why We Love it

If you don’t know Habring, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

The brand, founded in 2004 by the husband-and-wife team of Richard and Maria Kristina Habring, has been building some of the finest contemporary timepieces of the past 20 years. Richard, who was previously a technical developer with IWC and A. Lange & Söhne, develops with his wife everything from gorgeous time-only pieces to stunningly complicated chronographs, several of which use in-house calibers.

This particular Habring, the Foudrayante Felix Date, is a stunningly well executed, modern pointer-date watch. Housed in a 42mm stainless steel case, it features a sapphire crystal, an unsigned crown, and a polished beel. Its brushed silver dial is a thing of beauty: It’s adorned with a yellow gold spear handset and matching Arabic and baton indices, an outer date ring with a black bracket pointer hand, and a frosted foudroyante (“flashing seconds”) subdial at 9 o’clock. But that’s not all: Powered by the A11F manually-wound movement, the watch features a “deadbeat” seconds complication, meaning that the seconds appear to jump like those of a quartz watch. This rare complication ensures accurate seconds readings despite a mechanical power source.

Paired to a brown leather strap with an unsigned, stainless steel pin buckle and showing only normal wear throughout, this handsome Habring from the 2020s is accompanied by much of its ephemera.

Don’t miss out on such a special piece from one of the best names in boutique watchmaking!

Brand Story

+
Habring is one of the most exciting young brands in modern horology, and if you understand the founders’ pedigree, it’s easy to see why:
Husband-and-wife team Richard and Maria Kristina Habring had plenty of experience in the watchmaking industry prior to founding their eponymous firm in 2004 — Richard worked as a technical developer at both IWC and A. Lange & Söhne, two of the finest companies doing business today. Together, they develop some of the best timepieces in the boutique watchmaking space, pieces that span everything from time-only dress watches to complicated chronographs.
Famed for his development of a split-second chronograph for IWC, Richard brought this historical complication to his own eponymous brand and subsequently developed in-house calibers such as the A11B. Production across all collections is capped at roughly 200 pieces per year, making for high-quality, handmade watches that receive the utmost in personal touch, care and quality control.
Value-packed and wildly handsome, Habring watches are well respected by both collectors and laypeople, and represent the future of high-end, boutique watchmaking at mid-level luxury pricing.
