Our goal, way back when and today still, is to offer drool-worthy vintage watches at every pricepoint. We like to remind everyone that collecting vintage timepieces doesn’t require deep pockets, and there are affordable pieces like this Clebar out there that can hold their own against the big boys.

Clebar is one of those defunct Swiss brands that flies under the radar, and they’re probably best known among collectors today for their “Poor Man’s Heuers”, the chronographs that closely resemble early Heuer Carreras. Those are great watches, but there are other cool Clebars out there, like this one.

Powered by the venerable Landeron 248 manual-winding chronograph movement, this Clebar is an excellent (and affordable!) alternative to its contemporary counterparts from brands such as Zodiac, Heuer, or Breitling. The 37mm case is gorgeous and fairly unique tonneau shape with open lugs, giving it a great look wrist, and with a classic bi-compax chronograph layout, the watch has exactly what we look for in a vintage sports chronograph.

This timepiece is in outstanding original condition, featuring its original dial, hands, and bezel, all with just a touch of patina. It has obviously been treated kindly over the years, and isn’t much worse for the wear than when it left the factory decades ago.

If you’re a new vintage enthusiast looking for your first great watch, this Clebar is an excellent choice. We have to warn you though, these things can be addictive, and affordable vintage chronos are the gateway drug.
