Why We Love it

If you don’t know Habring, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

The brand, founded in 2004 by the husband-and-wife team of Richard and Maria Kristina Habring, has been building some of the finest contemporary timepieces of the past 20 years. Richard, who was previously a technical developer with IWC and A. Lange & Söhne, develops with his wife everything from gorgeous time-only pieces to stunningly complicated chronographs, several of which use in-house calibers.

In 2018, Habring partnered with Massena LAB — founded by watch industry veteran William Massena — on a wildly cool aluminum-bronze timepiece called the Erwin LAB01 based on vintage designs from the 1930s. Well sized, handsome and limited to just 50 pieces, it sold out quickly, and it’s easy to see why. Thankfully, we have a great example available here!

This particular Erwin LAB01 features a 38.5mm aluminum-bronze case, a sapphire crystal, an unsigned crown, a polished bezel, and a beautiful, black sector dial with gold-plated Arabic numerals and a matching feuille handset. Powered by the in-house, hand-wound Habring A11MS movement, it features “dead beat” seconds, meaning that the seconds hand is made to jump in one-second intervals like that of a quartz watch. This allows for ultra-precise timekeeping, despite the presence of a mechanical movement. Paired to a signed, honey-colored leather strap with a bronze pin buckle, the watch is in excellent condition and includes much of its ephemera — including an additional crown and handset!

Don’t pass up this opportunity to own a highly limited piece from one of the best names in contemporary watchmaking.

Brand Story

+
Habring is one of the most exciting young brands in modern horology, and if you understand the founders’ pedigree, it’s easy to see why:
Husband-and-wife team Richard and Maria Kristina Habring had plenty of experience in the watchmaking industry prior to founding their eponymous firm in 2004 — Richard worked as a technical developer at both IWC and A. Lange & Söhne, two of the finest companies doing business today. Together, they develop some of the best timepieces in the boutique watchmaking space, pieces that span everything from time-only dress watches to complicated chronographs.
Famed for his development of a split-second chronograph for IWC, Richard brought this historical complication to his own eponymous brand and subsequently developed in-house calibers such as the A11B. Production across all collections is capped at roughly 200 pieces per year, making for high-quality, handmade watches that receive the utmost in personal touch, care and quality control.
Value-packed and wildly handsome, Habring watches are well respected by both collectors and laypeople, and represent the future of high-end, boutique watchmaking at mid-level luxury pricing.
